I requested fanvideo or fanfiction.
I will be honest and tell you that I know nothing of the vidding process - although I watch and appreciate vids immensely. So above all, if you're vidding for me, follow your own instincts and do what you know works.
The pairing I chose for the vid, and the song that I mentioned, kind of sets the tone for what I'm wishing for. DS has a lot of complex, difficult/beautiful, mature (love) relationships between the characters, and I'd love to see that explored. It can be a little hurty *g* I like me some melancholy. But I also like fast paced vids with humour and snark, so yeah :)
Music-wise I'm into a whole bunch of different stuff - I'm just gonna rattle off a bunch of genres and names, and maybe there's something that you like for it, or that inspires you:
*singer-songwriters (for example Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright, Teddy Thomson, Emiliana Torrini, Teitur)
*modern rock/pop (for example Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Nick Cave, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews Band, Morrissey)
*old jazz standards (for example Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Louis Prima, Louis Armstrong)
*the old crooners (for example Bobby Darin, Ray Charles, Patsy Kline)
* I also really like Johnny Cash and Jimi Hendrix :)
(stuff I don't like so much: Nickelback, Evanescence, Greenday, My Chemical Romance and the like)
If you're writing: I am a huge sucker for character studies and background stories for the two Rays. I love hearing about childhoods, teenage years, young people in love or newly married. How they become who they are, what their families are like, what their lovers are like. How they perceive themselves and what kind of world they move through. What was RayV and Angie's marriage like? RayK and Stella? (Please be good to the girls :) I like strong, independent women, and I like Angie and Stella.) I also like the Rays to be just a little bit queer *g* Not necessarily in actions, but I do like them to have a bit of queer identity - even if they're completely in denial about it and don't act on it.
